Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival

One of Boston’s Largest, Most Popular Festivals Celebrates Jazz: The Next Generation this September

“This landmark Boston event is an extraordinary and meaningful opportunity to hear free world-class concerts in a family-friendly environment,” said John Hailer, president & chief executive officer, Natixis Global Asset Management – The Americas & Asia, presenting sponsor of the 2013 Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival. “Music inspires. It fosters creativity, discipline and commitment and that’s a winning combination that few would dispute. To support the Berklee BeanTown Jazz festival is to help support an incredible environment where families from Boston’s diverse neighborhoods can be introduced to top-notch artists who may serve as role models for the music world’s future stars.”

Boston’s biggest block party takes place on Saturday, September 28, from noon to 6:00 p.m. on Columbus Avenue between Massachusetts Avenue and Burke Street in Boston’s South End. This year, the festival celebrates Jazz: The Next Generation.

The outdoor celebration also features an intriguing variety of family activities at the Natixis Family Park and vendor booths offering foods and crafts from all over the world. The Natixis Family Park will transform Carter Playground on Columbus Avenue into a hub of activity including inflatables, face painting, and an instrument petting zoo staffed by Berklee professionals.

NGAM is also the presenting sponsor of the 2013 Newport Jazz Festival®.

About Berklee College of Music
Berklee College of Music, for over 65 years, has evolved to support its belief that the best way to prepare students for careers in music is through contemporary music education. The college was the first in the U.S. to teach jazz, the popular music of the time. It incorporated rock n’ roll in the 1960s, created the world's first degree programs in film scoring, music synthesis, and songwriting, and, in recent years, added world music, hip-hop, electronica, and video game music to its curriculum. With a diverse student body representing over 80 countries and a music industry “who’s who” of alumni that have received 222 Grammy Awards, Berklee is the world’s premier learning lab for the music of today – and tomorrow.
